Nepal Rivers

Whatever your desire for adventure, it is easy to find the perfect river in Nepal. With a wide range of difficulties from a gentle 1-day float down the Trishuli river, Seti river, to an exhilarating 10-day adventure through the rapids of the remote Tamur, Arun and Karnali, there is an experience for everyone waiting in Nepal's famous white waters. Nepal's rivers change with the seasons. Each year, after the heavy monsoon rains the waters swell, changing the run of the rivers and the nature of the rapids.

» Travel trade associations to form a federation

Feeling that the problems within the industry can only be solved by joint efforts of all travel trade associations, Nepalese travel trade associations have principally agreed to form a federation where all travel trade associations of the country are duly represented.

'A meeting of representatives of various travel trade associations held at Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) secretariat on May 2, 2008 has decided to form an ad-hoc committee of Nepal Tourism Professionals Federation (NTPF), an umbrella organization for all travel trade associations in the country. NTPF will be formally registered with the government after a few days, says Nava Raj Dahal, general secretary of TAAN.

The proposed federation will represent all travel trade associations throughout the country and will work towards achieving their common goals through concerted efforts of all the associations.

'We will also have chapters and units of NTPF in all tourism areas of the country,' Dahal informs. He further adds that the federation also aims to foster friendly relations among travel trade associations and tourism professionals in the country.

The formation of a tourism federation will help unite and integrate the industry that is experiencing bitter relations among some tourism professionals and associations. Furthermore, the federation will also help tourism professionals to lobby with the government regarding different tourism related issues.
