Tour Operators and Media Meet in Bangkok, March 4, 2007
Nepal Tourism Board, jointly with Embassy of Nepal in Thailand, and Nepal Association of Travel and Tour Agents(NATTA), organized a tour operators and media meet at Embassy of Nepal in Bangkok on 2nd March 2007.

The meet was aimed at strengthening the tie between Nepal and Thai tour operators, and to promote Nepal as a premier holiday destination in Thai market.

Welcoming the audience Mr. Arjun Kanta Mainali, Charge de’affair, Embassy of Nepal in Thailand, highlighted about the vast tourism potentials of Nepal. He further assured to Nepalese and Thai tour operators to extend all the support from his level best.

Mr. Madhav P Ghimire, Secretary for Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and Chairman of Nepal Tourism Board was Chief Guest of the program. Addressing the meet Mr. Ghimire highlighted about the cordial relation and cultural proximities between the two countries. He also mentioned about Orient Thai’s plan to fly Nepal and reiterated that ‘this shows the growing interest of Thai Travelers to Nepal.’ Paying due importance to the role of Media and Thai-Travel-Trade to establish Nepal as a major destination, Mr. Ghimire requested to include Nepal in their tour itinerary. He also briefly highlighted on 2nd Himalyan Travel Mart 2007 and expressed his hope that ‘there would be an encouraging participation from Thai Travel trade fraternity’

Mr. Dhruva Narayan Shrestha, NATTA-President invited Thai Travel Agents Association (TTAA)-President and Thai Tour Operators for their valuable participation in the 2nd Himalayan Travel Mart 2007 to be held in Kathamndu from 12-14 May 2007. Concluding the remarks Mr. Shrestha wished ‘Let NATTA – TTAA friendship last forever’.

During the meet Tourism Secretary Mr. Ghimire felicitated TTAA President Mr. Anake Srishevachort by giving a memento. In the same occasion, Mr. Deepak R. Joshi, NTB-Officer, highlighted about the Nepalese tourism attractions and presented a multimedia presentation.

More than 85 prominent Thai tour operators and media representatives attended the meet. Typical Nepalese cuisine- Dal-Bhat-Tarkari-Achar - served in the program was added attraction of the meet.
